Public Outreach and Education

About the Department

The Outreach Committee promotes the mission, values, goals, and pollution prevention objectives of the Ironhouse. The committee also hosts events, tours and information tables at area events to communicate directly with district customers about the workings of Ironhouse's facilities and programs.

The committee is responsible for publications and online website and postings.

Pollution Prevention Education

The district's Pollution Prevention or P2 Education program distributes information on how Ironhouse works to protect our environment and the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, as well as what you can do to help.

Topics of discussion include:

  • Ironhouse's Residential Recycled Water Fill Station
  • How to keep your drains free of harmful clogs
  • Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) recycling
  • Don't Flush Wipes
  • Recycling household hazardous waste

See our school tour packet for more information.

Periodically the district hosts events, like a day of Oakley Science Week, at which time Water Recycling Facility tours are made available to attendees. For more information on tours of the Facility, contact the district at (925) 625-2279.
