FAQs - Billing
Unlike many public utilities, Ironhouse Sanitary District assesses its customers annually through property tax bills. The fee you pay is determined by the type of property you own. You divide the amount by 12 to determine the monthly rate. For a current list of rates, please see our rate information page.
The district's sewer service charges are designed to recover the cost of service based on long-term operating and capital funding requirements. The district bills residential customers a flat annual rate per dwelling unit and collects the sewer service charge on the property tax bill. Non-residential customers are billed based on the number of equivalent service units (ESUs) assigned to each customer. An ESU represents the wastewater discharge from a typical residential dwelling unit. The District assigns ESUs to non-resident customers based on estimated volume and strength of each customer's wastewater discharge in relation to that of a typical residence. To see how ratepayers' tax dollars are being spent, ISD has provided a copy of the annual budget for rate payers to view.
Members of the ISD staff are always available to answer questions about ISD rates. Simply contact the district by phone, email or postal service mail at any time. For contact information please visit our Staff Directory.
