PROPOSED ADOPTION OF NEW SEWER RATE STRUCTURE AND INCREASES TO SEWER FEES
UPDATE- In order to comply with the Contra Costa County amended health order issued on June 2, 2020, there will be no physical meeting held at the District office.
The Board meeting will be held virtually and teleconference, via Zoom for members of the Public to attend. Members of Public will be able to join the meeting and comment on Agenda items in writing, in advance, as well as during the “public comment” portion of the live meeting. In order to protect public health, in-person attendance will not be allowed.
New sewer rate structure:
Ironhouse Sanitary District (ISD) is proposing to adopt a new rate structure. This proposed rate structure adjusts the fees for existing user classes and establishes new user classes.
ISD analyzed the costs to provide services for residential, commercial, and industrial sewer discharges.
- The adjustment ensures that ISD is properly assessing sewer customers their proper share based on the amount and type of wastewater they discharge.
- Proposed fees are adjusted for each user class to ensure that they are equitable and appropriate.
- Sewer fees for some user classes will be reduced.
Proposed increase for Infrastructure Improvements:
The sewer rate study also determined the need for increases to sewer service rates. The District has not raised rates in five years. The proposed rates represent the lowest increase possible to fund the necessary capital improvements identified within the next five years.
A Virtual Public Hearing on the proposed wastewater service rates will be held via Zoom (see sidebar for details) on June 16, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. ISD Board of Directors will hear and consider all oral and written testimony concerning the proposed wastewater service rates.
