Construction Manager’s Summary

1.    Schedule

The Contractor’s current project schedule shows the project is on schedule.  The critical path currently runs through the Chemical/Blower Building and the MBR structure.

2.     Work Progress

GENERAL

Piping

Work continued on the 4” PW, 8” UW, and 8” WAS lines.

Manhole No. 10 was completed upstream of the Influent Pump Station.  Installation of the 36” PI for the future connection began.

Work began on the 3” and 6” UW, 4” PD, and 18”, 24”, and 36” FA lines.

Installation of electrical ductbank continued throughout the site.

Influent Pump Station

Work was completed the base elbows for the influent pumps and the influent gates were installed.

Headworks

Concrete placement on the Headworks walls and suspended decks continued.

Anoxic/Aeration Basins

The final AA Basin Wall was completed.  Work continued on the RAS splitter box and the elevated walkways.  Handrail installation began on the completed elevated walkways.

MBR and Backpulse Tank

Work continued on the MBR walls and began on the DIP Tank walls.

The Backpulse Tank slab was completed and work began on the walls.

Rebar installation continued at the Permeate Pump Structure slab on grade.

Chemical/Blower Building

The equipment and electrical pads were completed.  Installation of the CMU block began.  The transformer was placed adjacent to the structure.

Solids Handling Building

The suspended deck was cured and the formwork was stripped.  Equipment pads were installed.

UV/Effluent Pump Station

Work continued on the UV Structure walls.  The Analyzer Building slab on grade was placed and installation of the CMU block began.

Belt Press Feed Pumps

The slab on grade was placed and layout began for the equipment pads.

Jersey Island Effluent Pipeline

No work this period.

3.  Contract Changes

Twelve contract change orders were issued in May for a total of -$45,285.00.

4.  Testing

Backfill material placed around the pipelines and subgrades and base rock at the structures were tested to confirm compliance with the project specifications.

Concrete cylinder samples were taken during concrete placements and will be tested for conformance to the project documents after curing.

As previously noted some early concrete testing revealed some concrete had not reached strength.  Evaluation and assessment of the concrete is being completed by Olson Engineering.  Olson Engineering is located in Wheat Ridge, CO and they specialize in this type of work.

Olson Engineering recommended a concrete sealant be applied to the suspect concrete so its life expectancy will equal the as-specified concrete. The resolution to address the concrete proposed by the Contractor has been accepted by ISD.  We are waiting for a final letter from the Contractor to confirm ISD’s acceptance.

Testing of electrical control panels, MCCs and Switchgear began.  JSP Automation, the Project’s electrical and instrumentation engineer, is working with the manufacturer at the factory to test equipment before it is delivered to the site.

5.  Anticipated Work for Next Month

Work will continue and begin on multiple pipelines throughout the project site.

Installation of the 36” PI line for the future connection will continue.

Coating work will begin at the Influent Pump Station.

Concrete work will continue on the Headworks walls and suspended slabs.

Work will continue on the RAS splitter box as well as the walkways at the top of the walls and handrail.  Installation of gates will begin.

Installation of equipment and electrical pads at the main level will begin.

CMU block installation will continue at the Chemical/Blower building and Analyzer Building.

The Permeate Pump slab on grade will be placed.  Walls and decks at the MBR and DIP Tank, and Backpulse Tank will continue.
