State law requires Ironhouse Sanitary District to set rates and levy charges sufficient to cover operating expenses, including interest on debts, and to provide funds for replacement or construction of facilities.

This section is part of the district's effort to notify customers of a sewer service charge increase that was approved by the Board of Directors at its June 5, 2007, meeting. Below you will find links to information that may be useful in understanding the need for these rate adjustments.

Summary Of Ordinance No. 30 and Order No. 07-31

Increasing the Sewer Service Charge

On Tuesday, June 5, 2007, after extensive public notice, the Ironhouse Sanitary District Board of Directors adopted its Ordinance No. 30 and Order No. 07-31 (the “Ordinance”), summarized as follows.

1. The sewer service charge of the Ironhouse Sanitary District is increased by $53, bringing the charge to $465 per equivalent service unit (ESU), effective July 1, 2007.

2. The District may increase the annual sewer service charge by as much as a total of $215 during the four fiscal years following the July 1, 2007-June 30, 2008 fiscal year without need of any further notice pursuant to California Constitution Article XIIID, Section 6(a).  Such increase may be in any amount, and in any one or more of such four fiscal years, so long as the total amount during such four fiscal years does not exceed $215 without a further notice, hearing and opportunity to protest pursuant to such Section 6(a).  The total amount may exceed $215 if the District gives a further notice, holds a public hearing, provides opportunity to protest and otherwise complies with such Section 6(a).

The Board also made certain related findings concerning notice, testimony presented, environmental effects, etc. and designated the undersigned to prepare and publish this summary in accordance with California Health and Safety Code Section 6490.

Summary Of Ordinance No. 31 and Order No. 07-32

Increasing Trunkline Capacity and Plant Capacity Fees

On Tuesday, June 5, 2007, the Ironhouse Sanitary District Board of Directors adopted its Ordinance No. 31 and Order No. 07-32 (the “Ordinance”), summarized as follows.

Based on the Engineering News-Record San Francisco Bay Area Cost Indexes, and after extensive public notice, the following fees of the Ironhouse Sanitary District are increased as follows, effective August 6, 2007;

a.  The trunkline capacity fee shall be increased by $70.40, bringing the fee to $973.40 per equivalent service unit (ESU).

b.  The plant capacity fee shall be increased by $395.40, bringing the fee to $5,468.40 per ESU.

The Board also made certain related findings concerning environmental effects and designated the undersigned to prepare and publish this summary in accordance with California Health and Safety Code Section 6490.

Increasing the Sewer Service Charge

On Tuesday, June 3, 2008, after public notice, the Ironhouse Sanitary District Board of Directors adopted its Ordinance No. 34 and Order No. 08-12 (the “Ordinance”), summarized as follows.

The sewer service charge of the Ironhouse Sanitary District is increased by $45, bringing the charge to $510 per equivalent service unit (ESU), effective July 1, 2008.

The Board also made certain related findings concerning notice, testimony presented, environmental effects, etc. and designated the undersigned to prepare and publish this summary in accordance with California Health and Safety Code Section 6490.
